On the night of
my birth my father lost a bet. As a result, I was named after an Irish
naval ship "The Aisling". This chance namesake, Gaelic for "dream" or
"vision", was my first taste of irony. For no amount of disipline could
ever keep me from approaching life like Alice, forever trapped in
wonderland. I express myself through paint and laughter everything else
is experience or dreams.
My paintings are
inspired by my independent adventures in travel. They fuel my creative
contemplation with powerful memories of enchantment, danger, curiosity,
awe, vivid color, architecture, and passion, which I am compelled to
recreate on canvas. The rich expressiveness of oil paint is
unparalleled. Through this medium I replicate my personal experiences
as I recall them in my day dreams. My paintings are mostly
representational, in order to clearly illustrate a beautiful moment in
time, but also contain surreal elements to convey this experience
through the eyes of a dreamer.
This series of
paintings is connected by my personal storyline. In each work, I wish
to inspire the realization that dreams can be manifested if one chooses
to believe in them. Reality is more than a shared consciousness; at
times it is an entirely unique experience. Through this visual tale I
invite my audience to share in the spirit of adventure, in hopes of
spreading my lust for life and creativity.
